Context & The Challenge

A crypto wallet application where I worked on both mobile and backend development. My date involved building core features, API integrations, and supporting secure data flows.

Early crypto wallet applications frequently suffered from confusing security UX, fragmented asset tracking, and unverified transaction status indicators that alienated non-technical users.

System Architecture & Approach

Engineered a secure React Native application supported by an Express/MongoDB backend service, prioritizing clear gas fee visualization, secure keychain biometric authentication, and live blockchain transaction polling.

Key Architectural Decisions

Hardware Enclave Secret Storage

Stored sensitive seed material strictly inside device secure enclaves (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore), never exposing raw secrets to the backend.

Time-Series Query Optimization

Structured MongoDB compound indexes over time-series collections for rapid historical portfolio valuation queries.

Deliverables & Results

  • —Biometric Auth: Secure hardware enclave integration for Face ID and fingerprint transaction signing.
  • —Portfolio Analytics: Aggregated multi-chain token balance valuation with historical profit/loss curves.
  • —Clear Confirmation Flows: Human-readable transaction previews eliminating guesswork on complex contract interactions.
  • —Token Watchlist: Real-time price alerts and push notification triggers for volatility thresholds.

Delivered a clean, trustworthy non-custodial wallet with seamless biometric sign-offs and zero security incidents during production testing.

Engineering Reflection

“Security without usability leads to user error; engineering safe defaults and clear visual confirmations is the highest-value feature in financial interfaces.”
