Context & The Challenge

Worked as a frontend developer on a car rental platform, initially with Angular and later contributing to the React Native mobile application. This project exposed me to large codebases and real production workflows.

Scaling car rental operations required synchronized vehicle location tracking, instant Bluetooth/cellular vehicle unlocking, and clean customer booking journeys across web and mobile.

System Architecture & Approach

Contributed across the Angular web management portal and the React Native customer mobile app, building reservation workflows, interactive map vehicle discovery, and account verification modules.

Key Architectural Decisions

Optimized Map Marker Clustering

Optimized map marker clustering to support thousands of active vehicle coordinates without browser lag or frame drops.

Modular Service Abstraction

Integrated modular API service layers to facilitate smooth feature parity across Angular and React Native codebases.

Deliverables & Results

  • —Live Vehicle Map: Interactive GPS station locator showing real-time fleet availability and battery/fuel levels.
  • —Streamlined Booking: In-app license verification, trip scheduling, and automated price calculation.
  • —Cross-Platform Consistency: Harmonized UI styling between web management dashboards and the mobile client.
  • —Rental Extension Controls: One-tap reservation extension with live recalculation of hourly rates and deposit holds.

Supported thousands of monthly rentals across urban zones, speeding up vehicle search and reservation times by 35%.

Engineering Reflection

“Working across production Angular and React Native codebases reinforced the value of clean, decoupled API contracts; when interfaces share clean contracts, teams move dramatically faster.”
